How To Build Folding Portable Staging?

The portable staging is ever-present folding or platforms in theater and in performing arts. After many years of techniques, standardized modular design of 4 feet (121.92 cm) by 8 feet (243.84 cm) has been used to create Portable Staging that can be adapted to many functions and productions. A well constructed stage represents a significant financial investment for any organization theatrical. But it’s worth the effort to build a school stage that can be reused season after season.

Instructions:

  • Purchase an “A-grade” pine sized 1 inch (2.5 cm) by 6 inches (15 cm). Need a board of 38 feet (11 meters 58 cm), or boards of 8 feet (2.4 m), to build a stage 4 feet (121.92 cm) by 8 feet (243.85 cm) that hold on six pillars of 18 inches (45 cm).
  • Two support panels 8 ft. (243.85 cm) at their edges, separated by a space of approximately 48 inches (120 cm)
  • Cut three tables of 47 inches (117.5 cm) long. Two of these boards mounts short within two large panels at the ends. Three drilled holes through the sides of each long board where they form a corner at the end of the board. Use wood screws one inch (2.5 cm) to connect the boards in the corners and forms a rectangular frame 4 (121.92 cm) by 8 feet (243.85 cm). Tape the joints with wood glue to give them an extra firmness.
  •  Mount the third board of 47 inches (117, 5 cm) within the frame, in the center. Drilling pilot holes and screw this central support panel to the frame from the outside of the frame.
  • Extending a set of AC-grade, plywood 4 feet (121.92 cm) by 8 feet (243,85 cm) by 3/4 inch (1.8 cm) thick. Try this top of plywood aligning the edges of the frame. If the fit is good, remove the lid momentarily.
  • Apply a generous portion of wood glue to the edge of the frame. Unfold the sheet of plywood on top of the glued edge. Wood screw 1 inch (2.5 cm) across a corner of the cover, connecting the frame. Make adjustments in the alignment of the cover by pivoting with the sheet of plywood in the first screw. More screws one inch (2.5 cm) around the four sides of the plywood cover centers 6 inches (15 cm).
  •  Examine the finished product. You have a lightweight folding table 4 ft. (121.92 cm) by 8 feet (243.85 cm) which rises to 6 1/2 inches (16.25 cm.) High without adding thereto the “legs”. Continue if you need to increase the height of the folding stage.
  • Get pieces of wood over 1 inch (2.5 cm) to 6 inches (15 cm) to the legs of the stage. If you want the folding stage rises more than 18 inches (15 cm) tall, six short legs 17 1/4 inches (43.1 cm) long. Short legs 11 6 3/4 inches (29.3 cm) long.
  • Wood glue applied to the shorter of the two boards. Make a sandwich board with the shorter one of the longer boards. One end of the two boards should be level. The other end is level because no one of the panels is shorter than the other, thereby forming a step. Screw the two boards to be joined using wood screws 3/4 inch (1.8 cm.) In a double X design to form a complete large stage. Repeat the same for assembling six legs.
  • Turn the portable staging at its top. Insert a leg in a corner of the platform. The shorter side of the leg should be facing the outside of the platform. The longest side of the leg should be adjusted within the frame and be against the cap. Be part of the stepped upper side shorter leg on the board.
  •  Screwed leg frame with screws (Design X) 3/4 inch (1.8 cm) or carriage bolts 1 1/4 inches (3.1 cm) (two bolts per leg gently pressure).
  •  Installing repeated legs remaining three corners of the platform and on both sides of the center of the frame bracket.
  • Fold up the platform on your lap. Adjusting as necessary the level of the platform legs. Strengthens the long legs with cross bracing as necessary.
